I'm Tamir Hargana, a Mongolian throat singer and multi-instrumentalist specialising in Mongolian and Tuvan throat singing (khöömii).
Originally from the northeastern region of Inner Mongolia, near the borders of Mongolia and Russia, I grew up surrounded by the rich musical traditions of the Central Asian steppes. My musical journey has taken me from studying traditional music at Inner Mongolia University Arts College to completing a Master's degree in World Music Performance at Northern Illinois University in the United States.
Over the years, I have received numerous awards and recognitions in throat singing competitions across Mongolia, Tuva, Inner Mongolia and China. I have performed internationally and led concerts, presentations and workshops in the United States, Mongolia, Russia, Taiwan, Indonesia and China.
Alongside throat singing, I play several traditional instruments, including the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle), tovshuur, igil and doshpuluur. These instruments allow me to explore the distinctive musical expressions and traditions of Mongolia and Tuva.
Through my lessons, I introduce students to the techniques of Mongolian and Tuvan throat singing, exploring vocal production, overtone techniques, different styles and their cultural backgrounds. I enjoy working with students of different experience levels, helping them discover their voices and develop a deeper appreciation of Central Asian musical traditions.
